The duo Kicks & Kent released their first official single June 9, 2015 through Realize Records. The song titled “Pain Reliever” was recorded at RokBox studios in Philadelphia, by seasoned producer Lance Davis. The single is the first in a series of upcoming songs by the duo.
Friends in high school, roommates after graduation. Signed to Realize Records in 2014 after filming a series of comedic YouTube videos, Kicks and Kent’s first single, “Pain Reliever,” marks their takeoff into the music industry. “The song is reminiscent of Frank Ocean and Drake,” says producer Lance Davis. Kicks & Kent are currently in preproduction for a music video to accompany the single. Kicks says, “We played with different themes and melodies in the studio, and I wanted to make something really chill. The song just came together. Working with Lance and Cas is great because we all got along well.”
Realize Records CEO Michel Grey comments, “Pain Reliever” is a perfect mix of beat accompanied by lyrical depth. The beat is mellow, but the song is about being in a state of mind that’s the antithesis of mellow.” Comments Cas, “I look forward to performing the song. I really had fun making this, making music and putting the pieces together was cool. It’s a good riding song for anyone who is a little upset.” The duo will be performing in the Mid-Atlantic region over the next few months as they finish recording the rest of their upcoming singles.
